This is not surprising actually. We knew that Gran Turismo 5 delays were taking their toll on the fanbase. Many of whom moved on to the plethora of other racing games that now fill this genre. Many of which are just as graphically pleasing and yet more fun to play.
There are far more AAA racing titles out now for the PS3 than there were at the time of GT3 or GT4 on the PS2. In other words, they now have far more serious and numerous competition in their space.
Joking aside though, a merger of Apple/Sony would definitely put the scare into Microsoft. Which would further drive the competitive nature of both companies to new levels that would benefit the consumer.
And for the PlayStation brand, imagine Steve Jobs and Jack Tretton on stage together at E3 2012 announcing the next PlayStation! "Oh, and one more thing, tell them Jack..."

It will go bad because it will use the PS3 XMB operating system, so:
- it will not support cross phone chat (so you'll have to text message only)
- it won't support any voicemail or voice messaging
- constant firmware updates that slowly remove features
The best we can hope for here is that Apple takes some of their $64+ billion dollar pile of cash and just buys Sony outright, as the rumors have been saying.

XBOX Live has made a huge difference in online gaming. You can still game with friends long after you (or they) have moved away. Sony will not fully duplicate XBOX Live until the PS4. At that point in time, they will have another chance to embed the same online routines in the OS and the force all developers to adhere to the same usage of the XMB. Something they could not do with the PS3 this generation.

I am an xbot, for the most part, and even I will agree that the Original XBOX controller was a joke! The 360 controller is perfection, but the original was horrible.

They do not need to make a PC version. Piracy is killing PC gaming and everyone knows it. Why would they want to jump into that cesspool only to have their game stolen and up on the torrents? Having to work with so many different system hardware configurations would not be worth the time, hassle or piracy effects.

I agree with you totally. When I first put my copy of COD:BO in my PS3 and started the multiplayer, I thought "...damn, I accidently got the PS2 version, I'll have to exchange this tomorrow at Best Buy..."
The graphics were that appalling. So why does everyone pick on GT5, an excellent game, when giving COD:BO a pass on the 2006 graphics engine?
